The Stolen Child
“COME LIVE WITH ME AND BE MY LOVE, AND WE WILL ALL THE PLEASURES PROVE, THAT VALLEYS, GROVES, HILLS, AND FIELDS, WOODS, OR STEEPY MOUNTAIN YIELDS. AND I WILL MAKE THEE BEDS OF ROSES, AND A THOUSAND FRAGRANT POSIES, A CAP OF FLOWERS, AND A KIRTLE, EMBROIDERED ALL WITH LEAVES OF MYRTLE.” ~ CHRISTOPHER MARLOWE
A Daughter of the wilderness. An unearthly faery child. Elegant simplicity embodied in soft layers of silk tulle and French lace reveal the complex spirit of this nymph of the wild. We imagine her dancing like a flickering light between branches and trees, ferns and fallen leaves, playfully singing: “Take my hand and come with me! I’ll show you what love and beauty be!” Arcane but noble like an ancient tree, she stands with grace and dignity, drawing you in with a gentle smile. Transfixed by the gaze above her shoulder ever so pure and invitingly, you follow her into the depth of the wood, enchanted by her beauty and the promise she holds.
This editorial was created for the attendees at our styling pilgrimage, back in October, and shot so beautifully by lead photographer Erich McVey. Drawing upon the mysticism and intangible magic of the Irish countryside we found inspiration in the faery world of our native stories passed from generation to generation, and in particular those immortalized by the powerful and evocative voice of the great William Butler Yeats a century ago.
